Meet Jasper

Although the boys' barn is finished and has an attached fenced enclosure that is 16X30 feet there is not enough grazing there for growing boys. Their pasture fence is not finished, so Jasper goes on a leash to graze since he hasn't bonded with me yet.

Ben follows like a little puppy dog because you never know, I might have bottle in my pocket that I'm with-holding. I hope that Jasper will bond sooner rather than later and follow me instead of run from me. Though I admit it is nice to have a reason to take a break and go outside, I would rather him get the freedom to browse on his own.

Meet Ben

This is Ben the latest addition to Owl Tree Farm. He has a friend named Jasper, but I've yet to get a good pic of him. Ben will be our breeding buck for the Mini-Mancha girls (Vaca and Gypsy). Jasper is a companion goat to keep him company....goats are herd animals and like to be with other goats. Ben; however, is kind of confused because he gets his bottle from me...I suspect he thinks I'm a goat!

goat playground

The hubs surprised me by bringing home three big wooden spools (a free score). The girls got a goat appropriate playground and so far we have gotten a few hours of distraction. Goats are funny!....when I open the barn in the mornings they make a beeline for their spools. They get down to graze, but always come back to laze around.

Vaca Voo: Our Cranky Old Lady.

Still here, still working, barely getting it all done. I'm feeling a little cranky....now I understand why our Vaca butts and bites ears. I feel like I could butt someone or nip an ear (though that kind of grosses me out!). I have one more thesis deadline to meet before year's end...then I'll get a couple of weeks "off"....
