Make that 77...

Well, I feel a little sideways right now so, I'll just leave that the way it is. I officially have 78 more days, but I just called in "sick". That leaves 77 more days to work, but I don't want to dwell on it and ruin my fabulous day. The weather here in Texas is glorious, warm and sunny. When I found out my husband was likely going to have tomorrow off I gambled and took tomorrow too. Hopefully, he will indeed get to stay home and we can spend a whole day together....a bonus day.

I don't really need much arm-twisting these days to take a day off, but knowing he will likely be home and the weather forecast is for sunny and 81 degrees....no twist required and I get to surprise him when he gets in tonight!! I love surprises.

I did so many cool things today. I almost got to do all the things I love most: I sewed this morning, I did some laundry, I created (a large papier mache' teacup), and I worked in the garden. All things that I luv....I plan to wash dishes and draw a little and read a little before bed, so one of the only things missing is cooking...I did not cook today. Cereal, sandwich, and leftover spaghetti, but I worked like crazy out in the sun. An amazing day....

83 Days and Counting

Still 83 more days of work...last week was marginally better, semi-acceptable, but I still don't want to go. The Candy Countdown jar has just the tiniest bit of space at the top, but you can't see it. I really need to see it coming down. It is comforting though to see that this is the last week of January, leaving only four months and a few days of work.
Days like today make going to work on Monday even more brutal. It was amazing, warm and breezy. A perfect day. I put three loads of laundry on the line and my new undies looked so happy flapping in the breeze. Even that lifted my spirits. I spent several hours trimming trees and grapevines and such. Just clipping and thinking and enjoying the sun and wind. When I got tired of that I took the dogs for a spin around the neighborhood, about a mile walk. Lovely.
Now that the sun is getting low in the sky and I am showered and thinking about dinner, I can't help the feeling of dread that seems to creep in on Sunday nights. I know that I have to go to work tomorrow. I know there are just a few more hours of freedom. I know that it pisses me off that I get two amazing days only after working for five shit-days. Ug!

88 more days of work

88 more days to work, 88 pieces of candy. My mom came up with this genius way to countdown the days until I quit my job. I am very visual and needed something I could see and touch, the calendar with the days marked just wasn't doing it for me. The jar is completely packed full, jammed. I don't think that feels very good....I will be happier when the jar is visibly more empty than full...which is how this lousy job makes me feel, more empty than full.

I had to work today, no students since it was the MLK holiday. Even without students, I was sick to my stomach just being there. I can hardly even muster a smile.
